What happened
The Landlords applied for termination of the tenancy and eviction based on rent arrears. The Tenant, who has lived in the unit for 15 years, requested a payment plan citing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic and shared custody responsibilities. This was the third application for arrears regarding this tenancy. The Adjudicator found the tenancy unsustainable as the Tenant's income was significantly lower than the monthly rent.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective August 31, 2025. The Tenant may void the eviction by paying $4,298.00 by August 31, 2025. If the Tenant does not void the order, they must vacate the unit and pay the Landlords $504.30 plus daily compensation of $67.59 from August 6, 2025, until they vacate.
