What happened

Tenants applied for an order determining that the Landlord collected or retained money illegally, specifically the Landlord did not provide compensation to which the Tenants were entitled under section 48.1 of the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 after serving an N12 notice.

The ruling

The Landlord must pay the Tenants $3,048.00, which includes $3,000.00 for the compensation owing under section 48.1 of the Act and $48.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Landlord does not pay the full amount by November 11, 2024, the Landlord will owe interest at 6.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
