What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant because the tenancy was entered into as a result of an agreement to purchase the condominium unit and the agreement has been terminated. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenant remained in the unit after the termination date.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective November 14, 2023. The Tenant must vacate the rental unit by that date. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $15,301.62 in compensation for use of the unit from April 1, 2023 to October 19, 2023, and $186.00 for the cost of filing the application, for a total of $15,487.62. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by November 14, 2023, the Tenant will owe interest at 7% annually on the outstanding balance.
