What happened

The Tenant filed applications alleging that the Landlords failed to meet maintenance obligations and harassed him. The issues included concerns with the kitchen sink, countertop, crumbling walls/ceilings, rusting bathroom fixtures, and electrical noises. The Landlords contended that they attempted repairs but were hindered by the Tenant's restrictive scheduling and behavior towards contractors. The LTB found that the Landlords acted reasonably and that the Tenant's interference caused the delays.

The ruling

The Tenant's T6 and T2 applications were dismissed in their entirety. The LTB determined that the Landlords met their maintenance obligations by attempting and completing significant repairs, and that any outstanding issues or delays were largely the result of the Tenant's own actions and refusal to provide reasonable access. No evidence of harassment by the Landlords was found.
