What happened
The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to substantial rent arrears. The Tenant has failed to pay rent since March 2025 and did not attend the hearing despite being properly served notice. The Landlord attempted to negotiate a repayment plan, but the Tenant did not respond.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective September 2, 2025, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying the full amount of arrears and fees. If the Tenant does not pay to void, they must move out by the termination date. The Tenant is ordered to pay $11,312.20 for arrears up to the hearing date plus filing fees, along with daily compensation of $67.40 from August 14, 2025, until they vacate.
