What happened
Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant because the Landlord, GS, in good faith requires possession of the rental unit for the purpose of residential occupation for at least one year. The Landlords also claimed compensation for each day the Tenant remained in the unit after the termination date.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective May 8, 2023. The Tenant must move out by this date. If the unit is not vacated by May 8, 2023, the Landlord may file the order with the Court Enforcement Office (Sheriff) for enforcement. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $4,481.34, which includes $4,295.34 in compensation for use of the unit from October 1, 2022 to April 19, 2023, and $186.00 in filing costs. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by May 8, 2023, they will owe interest at 6% annually on the outstanding balance.
