What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to their failure to pay rent as ordered in a previous LTB order. The Tenants were required to pay $35,000 in rent arrears and the application filing fee, but only $1,800 was paid by the due date.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective June 9, 2023. The Tenants must pay the Landlord $4,767.02 in rent arrears up to May 29, 2023, plus $164.38 per day in compensation for use of the unit starting May 30, 2023 until the Tenants vacate. If the full amount is not paid by June 9, 2023, the Tenants will owe interest at 6% annually on the outstanding balance.
