What happened

The Landlord applied for an order requiring the Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owes. The Tenant vacated the rental unit on December 14, 2024 but did not pay the total rent they were required to pay for the period from December 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024.

The ruling

The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $14,874.46, which includes rent arrears up to December 31, 2024 and the cost of the application, minus the rent deposit and interest on the deposit. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by February 4, 2025, they will start to owe interest at 5% annually on the outstanding balance.
