What happened
The Landlord, a corporation, applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Landlord also claimed costs for NSF charges from failed electronic payments. The Tenant did not attend the hearing, and the matter proceeded based on the Landlord's evidence alone.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenant pays $12,701.04 by May 31, 2025. If payment is not made, the Tenant must vacate by that date, and the Landlord can file for eviction. If the tenancy is terminated, the Tenant must pay the Landlord $9,925.41, which includes rent arrears to the hearing date, the application fee, and NSF charges, less the rent deposit and interest. The Tenant will also owe daily compensation of $59.53 from May 14, 2025, until they move out.
