What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to failure to pay rent. The application was filed after serving a valid Notice to End Tenancy Early for Non-payment of Rent (N4 Notice), which the tenants did not void by paying the arrears. The tenant Ms. Burnside attended the hearing, but the tenant Mr. Gagnon did not.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated unless the tenant pays $8,911 by September 20, 2024 to void the order. If the tenant does not pay, they must vacate the unit by September 20, 2024 and pay the landlord $6,634.72 plus daily compensation of $34.52 per day starting August 27, 2024.
