What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant is currently incarcerated in Jamaica and was not occupying the rental unit at the time of the hearing, but was still in possession of the unit.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenant pays the outstanding rent arrears of $5,970 by October 31, 2023, $6,934 by November 30, 2023, or $7,898 by December 31, 2023. If the Tenant does not pay, they must vacate the unit by December 31, 2023 and pay the Landlord $5,386.28 plus daily compensation.
