What happened
The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant for non-payment of rent. The Tenant did not attend the hearing after being properly served with the notice. Evidence showed the Tenant had not paid rent for at least six months, leading to substantial arrears.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenant pays $7,986.00 by April 27, 2025, to void the order. If the payment is not made, the Tenant must vacate by that date and pay the Landlord $7,284.36, plus daily compensation of $42.74 from April 15, 2025, until move-out. The Landlord may file for eviction with the Sheriff starting April 28, 2025.
