What happened

The Landlord applied for eviction due to rent arrears. By the hearing date, the Tenant had paid all rent owed, but disputed their responsibility to pay the Landlord's $186.00 application filing fee. The Tenant claimed a Landlord's agent permitted late rent payments, but could not identify the agent. The Board found the Landlord was entitled to file the application as arrears existed at the time of filing, and therefore ordered the Tenant to pay the filing fee.

The ruling

The tenancy is not terminated. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $186.00 for the application filing fee by June 30, 2025. If the amount is not paid by the due date, interest will accrue at 6.00% annually starting July 1, 2025.
