What happened
The Landlord applied to evict the Tenant for non-payment of rent. The Tenant, a single mother of two, requested a repayment plan, which the Landlord deemed unreasonable. The Board denied the Tenant's request for a payment plan, citing her history of non-payment and lack of transparency about her income during the hearing. However, the Board postponed the eviction date to allow the Tenant time to find alternative housing or secure the funds to void the eviction order.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenant pays $8,289.78 by April 30, 2025, or $9,728.21 by May 31, 2025. If the order is not voided, the Tenant must move out by May 31, 2025. If the tenancy is terminated, the Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $5,587.63, plus daily compensation of $47.29 from April 2, 2025, until vacating the unit.
