What happened
The Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent and multiple NSF cheque charges. The Tenant did not attend the hearing and has not made any payments since the application was filed. The rent arrears have doubled during the application period.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective September 5, 2025, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying the full arrears, NSF charges, and filing fees. Specifically, the Tenant must pay $1,170.00 by August 31, 2025, or $1,309.00 by September 5, 2025. If the Tenant does not pay and does not move out, the Landlord can enforce the eviction through the Sheriff starting September 6, 2025. The Tenant is also ordered to pay $1,090.41 if the tenancy is terminated.
