What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to their failure to pay utility costs they were required to pay under the terms of the tenancy agreement, which substantially interfered with the Landlord's lawful rights. The Landlord also claimed the Tenants were persistently late in paying rent.

The ruling

The Landlord's application for unpaid utility costs was granted. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $1,177.83 for unpaid utility costs and $186 for the application filing fee, for a total of $1,363.83. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by September 6, 2024, they will owe interest at 7% annually on the outstanding balance.
