What happened
The Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to non-payment of rent. The Tenants did not dispute the arrears but cited financial hardship. They proposed a payment plan which was rejected by the Board as unsustainable relative to their household income. However, the Board granted a postponement of the eviction to allow the Tenants more time to find alternative housing or secure assistance.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective November 30, 2025, unless the Tenants pay $6,996.82 by that date to void the order. If the Tenants fail to pay or move out, the Landlord may enforce eviction through the Sheriff starting December 1, 2025. The Board noted that while arrears existed, the Tenant's financial struggles warranted a brief postponement of the eviction.
