What happened
The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant admitted to the arrears and proposed a monthly repayment plan of $100.00, which the Adjudicator rejected as unreasonable given the total amount owed. The Tenant cited financial hardship, reliance on food banks, and responsibility for three dependents as reasons for the delay in payment.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective July 15, 2025, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying the full amount of $10,186.00 (or $8,186.00 if paid by July 2). If the Tenant does not void, they must vacate by July 15 and pay the Landlord $5,501.00 plus daily compensation of $65.75 from May 23, 2025, until they move out.
