What happened
The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to non-payment of rent. The Tenants acknowledged the arrears but Tenant 1 suggested they stopped paying due to alleged character assassination attempts by the community and Landlord's staff on social media. Tenant 1, who receives disability benefits, proposed a repayment plan of $2,000 per month, which the Landlord contested as not being financially viable.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective October 25, 2025. The Tenants may void the order by paying $8,934.53 by October 25, 2025. If the Tenants do not pay and do not vacate, the Landlord can enforce the eviction through the Sheriff starting October 26, 2025. The Tenants are ordered to pay $5,352.14 for arrears up to the hearing date plus $49.69 daily compensation for each day they remain in the unit after September 10, 2025.
