What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent, serious impairment of safety, willful damage, and the Landlord's good faith need for personal use of the rental unit. The Tenant did not attend the hearing.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective April 17, 2023. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $1,790.11, which includes rent arrears and the application filing fee, minus the rent deposit and interest. The Tenant must also pay daily compensation of $16.44 from February 23, 2023 until the move-out date. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by April 23, 2023, they will owe interest at 6% annually on the outstanding balance.
