What happened
Tenant applied for an order determining that Landlord illegally locked her out of the rental unit and substantially interfered with her reasonable enjoyment of the rental unit or residential complex. The Tenant was away in Florida and the Landlord allowed other occupants to stay in the Tenant's rental unit permanently, effectively locking the Tenant out.
The ruling
Landlord must pay Tenant $7,350.41 for illegally locking Tenant out and substantially interfering with Tenant's reasonable enjoyment. Tenant did not prove remaining allegations. Landlord's actions were a serious violation of the Act.
