What happened

Tenants applied for an order determining that the Landlords failed to meet the Landlord's maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 (the 'Act') or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards due to the presence of black mold in the rental unit.

The ruling

The Landlord failed to address the mold issue in the rental unit, which forced the Tenants to vacate. The Landlord is ordered to pay the Tenants $2,670.53 for unused rent and the cost of the mold inspection.
