What happened
The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants because the Landlord required possession of the rental unit for personal residential occupation. The Tenants did not attend the original hearing on June 16, 2025, and an eviction order was issued on July 2, 2025. The Tenants subsequently requested a review of that order, citing medical reasons for their absence. The Board conducted a preliminary review of the request without a hearing.
The ruling
The Tenants' request to review the eviction order dated July 2, 2025, is denied. The Board found that the Tenants failed to provide a credible or sufficient explanation for their failure to attend the original hearing. Consequently, the original order terminating the tenancy and allowing for eviction remains unchanged and in effect.
