What happened
The Tenants filed T2 and T6 applications alleging that the Landlord harassed them, restricted access to the kitchen, called the police to prevent one tenant from moving in, and failed to provide a bedroom door for privacy. The Landlord failed to attend the hearing. The LTB found that the Landlord's actions constituted substantial interference and harassment, though the maintenance claim regarding the door was dismissed due to lack of evidence of legal requirements.
The ruling
The Landlord is ordered to pay the Tenants $536.13 by August 4, 2025, which includes a rent abatement of $488.13 and the application fee. The Landlord must also pay a $500.00 administrative fine to the LTB for harassment and restricting kitchen access. The Tenants' maintenance claim regarding the lack of a bedroom door was dismissed.
