What happened

The Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant, a long-term resident of 10 years, sought relief from eviction, citing job loss and financial hardship but noted she is now working part-time and receiving assistance from her adult children. The Landlord opposed a payment plan, citing the duration required to clear the arrears.

The ruling

The LTB granted the Tenant relief from eviction on the condition that she pays $4,377.20 (arrears and costs) according to a strict schedule. The Tenant must pay $300.00 monthly from October 2025 to November 2026, plus the final balance in December 2026, while maintaining current rent payments. Failure to meet any payment allows the Landlord to apply for an eviction order without further notice.
