What happened

The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants because they failed to pay the rent. The Tenants were served with an N4 Notice and did not pay the arrears. The Tenants vacated the rental unit on April 30, 2025, prior to the LTB hearing. The hearing proceeded in the Tenants' absence to determine the final amount of arrears and filing costs.

The ruling

The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlord $10,067.35, representing rent arrears and filing costs, after deducting the rent deposit and accrued interest. Interest will accrue at 5.00% annually on any unpaid balance starting May 25, 2025.
