What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to failure to pay rent. Tenants also applied for an order alleging the Landlord substantially interfered with their reasonable enjoyment, harassed them, and failed to meet maintenance obligations.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective June 30, 2022, the date the Tenants vacated the rental unit. The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlord $2,546, which includes rent arrears up to the move-out date and the cost of filing the application, minus the rent deposit. If the Tenants do not pay by July 14, 2024, they will owe interest at 7% annually on the outstanding balance.
