What happened
The Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant, represented by a support person, cited significant financial hardship and the impact on children as reasons for requesting more time. The Tenant also alleged a hydro shutoff by the Landlord, though the Board found insufficient evidence to substantiate a serious breach of obligations.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective August 31, 2025, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying the full arrears and filing fee. If the Tenant does not void the order, they must move out by August 31, 2025, and pay the Landlord $6,727.43 (calculated after applying the rent deposit and interest), plus daily compensation of $78.90 for each day they remain in the unit after July 22, 2025.
