What happened

The Landlords applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to significant rent arrears. Tenant 1 attended the hearing and did not dispute the arrears but requested relief from eviction, citing temporary unemployment and a pending return to work for her husband. The Landlords noted the financial burden of the unpaid rent on their mortgage.

The ruling

The LTB issued a conditional order granting the Tenants relief from eviction. The Tenants are ordered to pay $18,358.00 in arrears and costs according to a monthly payment schedule of $1,000.00 starting November 15, 2025, in addition to regular monthly rent. If the Tenants miss any payment, the Landlords may apply for an ex parte eviction order.
