What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. A previous hearing in April 2025 resulted in an interim order which the Tenant failed to comply with. The Tenant did not attend the current hearing despite proper notification. Arrears have accumulated to over $13,000, causing significant financial hardship for the 70-year-old Landlord.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenant pays $13,590.12 by November 7, 2025, to void the order. If the Tenant fails to pay or move out, the Landlord may enforce the eviction through the Sheriff on or after November 8, 2025. The Tenant is ordered to pay $11,985.92 to the Landlord, which accounts for arrears, the application fee, and deductions for the rent deposit and interest.
