What happened
The Landlord, who is the Tenant's father, applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant for persistently paying rent late. The Tenant was found to have paid rent late 19 out of 19 times between March 2023 and September 2024, and subsequently failed to pay any rent from January 2025 to the hearing date. The Tenant did not attend the hearing.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated, and the Tenant must vacate the rental unit by June 24, 2025. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $3,342.80, covering compensation for occupying the unit from January 1, 2025, to June 9, 2025, plus the application filing fee. Additional daily compensation of $19.73 is owed from June 10, 2025, until the Tenant moves out. Relief from eviction was denied.
