What happened
The Landlord applied to evict the Tenants for non-payment of rent. The arrears were discovered in 2024 to have accumulated since 2018. The Tenants, one of whom is a licensed paralegal, did not attend the hearing, which had been marked as peremptory against them. They also did not respond to the Landlord's attempts to resolve the matter.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenants pay $8,524.85 by May 20, 2025. If they fail to pay, they must vacate by May 20, 2025, and will owe the Landlord $8,524.85, plus daily compensation of $98.63 from May 21, 2025, until they move out. The Board denied the Tenants relief from eviction.
