What happened

Tenant 1 requested a review of an LTB order that terminated the tenancy for non-payment of rent. Tenant 1 claimed she was unable to attend the original hearing because she was focusing on her father's hospitalization. The Landlord's representative highlighted that Tenant 1 is a licensed paralegal and failed to provide any documentary evidence for her absence or the alleged banking errors. The Member found no serious error in the original proceeding and denied the review request.

The ruling

The request for review is denied, and the original order dated May 9, 2025, is confirmed. The stay of the eviction order is lifted effective July 31, 2025. The Landlord agreed to this delayed lifting to allow the Tenants time to move their possessions.
