What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to Tenant's failure to pay utility costs they were required to pay under the terms of the tenancy agreement. The Landlord also alleged that the Tenant substantially interfered with the Landlord's lawful rights, privileges, or interests by failing to put the hydro into the Tenant's name.

The ruling

The Landlord proved the Tenant substantially interfered with the Landlord's lawful rights by failing to pay utility costs as required under the lease. The tenancy will continue if the Tenant changes the electricity account to her name and pays the $3,929.50 in unpaid utility costs and application fee in installments. If the Tenant fails to comply, the Landlord may apply to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant.
