What happened
The Landlords applied for termination of the tenancy and eviction based on significant rent arrears. Tenant 1 attended the hearing and proposed a payment plan, citing financial hardship and the care of two children with disabilities. The adjudicator found the payment plan not viable but delayed the eviction to allow the Tenants more time to find alternative housing.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective September 30, 2025, unless the Tenants pay $15,586.00 by July 31, 2025, to void the order. If the tenancy is terminated, the Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlords $10,070.84, which reflects arrears up to the hearing date and the filing fee, less the rent deposit and accrued interest. Daily compensation of $72.33 applies from June 25, 2025, until the unit is vacated.
