What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to substantial interference with the reasonable enjoyment or lawful right, privilege or interest of the Landlord or another Tenants. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenants remained in the unit after the termination date. The Landlord also applied for an order requiring the Tenants to pay the Landlord's reasonable out-of-pocket expenses that are the result of the Tenant's failure to pay utility costs they were required to pay under the terms of the tenancy agreement.
The ruling
The Landlord's claim for compensation for unpaid utility costs in the amount of $5,163.91 is granted. The Tenants are ordered to pay this amount to the Landlord on or before July 19, 2024. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount owing by July 19, 2024, they will start to owe interest at 7.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
