What happened

Tenant 2 requested a review of an order issued on August 28, 2025, which ordered termination of the tenancy and rent arrears. Tenant 2 argued he was unable to participate in the original hearing on July 25, 2025, despite admitting he arranged for Tenant 1 to attend on his behalf. The Tenants also argued that the Landlord had agreed to waive rent if they vacated by March 28, 2025. However, the Board found that the Tenants did not vacate until March 31, 2025, thereby nullifying the waiver agreement. The review request was denied as no serious error was found.

The ruling

The request for review is denied. The original order issued on August 28, 2025, which found that the tenants owed rent arrears and had vacated the unit on March 31, 2025, remains in full effect. The Board found no merit in the claim that Tenant 2 was unable to participate or that the rent waiver should have applied.
