What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The Tenant argued that he still had a rent-geared-to-income (RGI) subsidy, but the Board determined it did not have jurisdiction to consider this issue. The Tenant was disruptive during the hearing and was fined $50 for his conduct.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenant pays $12,419 by September 30, 2023 or $13,780 by October 20, 2023 to void the order. If the Tenant does not pay, they must vacate the unit by October 20, 2023 and pay $10,368.25 in rent arrears and application costs.
