What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to failure to pay rent. Landlord also sought damages for unpaid rent and utilities. Tenants had vacated the property on April 5, 2021, prior to the hearing date, but had not paid rent since September 2019.

The ruling

The court ordered that the lease agreement was terminated effective August 31, 2020. The Tenants were ordered to pay the Landlord $122,500.00 in unpaid rent plus $342.91 in prejudgment interest, and $1,324.60 in unpaid utilities plus $64.52 in prejudgment interest.
