What happened
The Tenant filed a T6 application claiming the Landlords failed to meet maintenance obligations regarding a lack of hot water, a bedroom window that would not close, faulty electrical outlets causing shocks, a leaking dishwasher, and mold. The Tenant sought rent abatement and compensation for a damaged laptop. The Landlords argued they responded promptly to all issues once properly notified and that some issues were the responsibility of the condominium corporation.
The ruling
The Tenant's application was dismissed in its entirety. The Board found that the Landlords met their maintenance obligations by responding reasonably and promptly to the Tenant's complaints. No rent abatement or compensation for damages was awarded.
