What happened

Tenant applied for an order determining that the Landlord altered the locking system on the door giving entry to the rental unit without giving the Tenant replacement keys. The Landlord believed the Tenant had abandoned the unit and changed the locks without obtaining a proper eviction order.

The ruling

The Board ordered the Landlord to immediately allow the Tenant to recover possession of the rental unit, provide keys and access codes, and return the Tenant's property by February 11, 2023. The Tenant may file the order with the Court Enforcement Office if the Landlord does not comply.
