What happened

Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to failure to pay rent and for substantially interfering with the reasonable enjoyment or lawful right, privilege or interest of the Landlords or another tenant. The Tenants had vacated the rental unit on December 8, 2023 without providing notice to the Landlords.

The ruling

The Tenants owe $13,767.03 to the Landlords, which includes rent arrears up to February 29, 2024 and the cost of the application, minus the rent deposit and interest owing. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by April 2, 2024, they will start owing interest at 7% annually on the outstanding balance.
