What happened

Tenant applied for an order determining that the Landlord substantially interfered with the reasonable enjoyment of the rental unit or residential complex by the Tenant or by a member of their household, and harassed, obstructed, coerced, threatened or interfered with the Tenant. The Landlord was not present or represented at the hearing.

The ruling

The Landlord shall pay the Tenant $2,278.00, which includes $230.00 for moving expenses, $2,000.00 in general damages, and $48.00 for the application fee. The Landlord shall also pay a $1,000.00 administrative fine to the LTB. The Landlord's failure to pay the full amount by March 10, 2025 will result in interest accruing at 5.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
