What happened

The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to substantial interference with the reasonable enjoyment of the residential complex. The Landlord alleged that the Tenant’s unit was in a severe state of uncleanliness and hoarding, creating a fire hazard and a breeding ground for pests, which affected the 500+ unit building. The Tenant admitted to some clutter but denied the severity of the situation and requested more time to clean.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective November 8, 2025. The Tenant must vacate the unit by this date or the Landlord may enforce the eviction through the Sheriff. The Tenant is ordered to pay $186.00 to the Landlord for the application filing fee.
