What happened
The Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant for non-payment of rent. The Tenant, who has resided in the unit since July 2024, did not dispute the arrears, which amounted to over $14,000. The Tenant requested an extended termination date due to medical issues, but the Board denied the request, citing the substantial amount of arrears and the Tenant's payment history as reasons why an extension would be unreasonable.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenant pays the Landlord $16,741.00 by June 21, 2025. If payment is not made, the Tenant must vacate the unit by June 21, 2025, and pay the Landlord $12,944.00 plus daily compensation of $77.75 from May 13, 2025. The Tenant's request for an extended move-out date and relief from eviction was denied due to the substantial arrears.
