What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to the Tenant's failure to meet a condition specified in a previous LTB order to pay $200 towards rent arrears by April 9, 2023. The Tenant paid the $200 on April 12, 2023, but was still in arrears.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective May 30, 2023. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $17,746.05, which includes the remaining rent arrears from the previous order, plus $69.04 per day in compensation starting May 20, 2023 until the Tenant vacates the unit. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by May 30, 2023, they will owe interest at 6% annually on the outstanding balance.
