What happened
Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant because the Landlords in good faith require possession of the rental unit for the purpose of residential occupation for at least one year by the Landlords' parents.
The ruling
The Landlord has proven their good-faith intention to have their parents move into the rental unit. The Tenant is ordered to vacate the unit by January 27, 2024 and pay the Landlord $40,957.64 in compensation for use and occupation of the unit from August 1, 2022 to November 14, 2023. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by January 27, 2024, they will start to owe interest at 7% annually on the outstanding balance.
