What happened
The Tenants filed a T6 application alleging that the Landlord failed to meet maintenance obligations regarding a bedbug infestation. The Tenants discovered bedbugs upon moving in and argued that the Landlord's response was inadequate and that he should have treated adjacent units. The Landlord contended that he responded promptly, coordinated treatments with the Tenants, and even used their preferred pest control company.
The ruling
The Tenants' application was dismissed as the Board found the Landlord's response to the bedbug infestation was reasonable and timely. The Landlord provided treatments in coordination with the Tenants and even agreed to use their preferred pest control vendor. The Tenants' demand for the Landlord to treat adjacent units was not supported by evidence.
