What happened

The landlord corporation applied to evict the tenant, whose employment as a superintendent had been terminated. The tenant was provided with the rental unit as part of his employment. After his employment ended on December 2, 2024, he was required to vacate within one week but failed to do so. The landlord also successfully amended their application at the hearing to claim compensation for the tenant's continued occupation of the unit. The tenant did not attend the hearing.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective December 2, 2024, because the Tenant's employment as superintendent has ended. The Tenant is ordered to move out by April 7, 2025. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $6,022.10 for compensation from December 10, 2024, to March 17, 2025, plus an ongoing daily compensation of $61.45 from March 18, 2025, until he vacates. This amount is offset by the last month's rent deposit of $1,869.00 and interest of $57.30. The Tenant must also pay the $186.00 application fee. Eviction can be enforced by the Sheriff starting April 8, 2025.
