What happened
The landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the tenants because the tenants did not meet a condition specified in a previous order issued by the LTB on October 20, 2022. The previous order required the tenants to pay $250 towards the outstanding arrears by April 1, 2023, which they failed to do.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective May 27, 2023. The tenants must pay the landlord $10,046.99 (less any payments made after the application was filed on April 12, 2023), which includes the rent arrears up to May 16, 2023 and the cost of the previous application. The tenants must also pay the landlord $52.28 per day for compensation for use of the unit starting May 17, 2023 until they move out.
